Rosemary Leger serves as Assistant Professor of Fashion and Director of the Lasell Fashion Collection at Lasell University, where she is also a distinguished alumna (Class of 2016) from the Fashion Communication and Promotion program. Her academic journey includes professional experience at Brides Magazine and Allure in New York, followed by graduate studies at the University of Rhode Island where she earned both her Master's in Textile Merchandising and Design and Doctorate.
Her research centers on sustainable fashion systems, with particular expertise in zero-waste consumer practices developed through doctoral work examining industry waste patterns. Pedagogically, she has revolutionized Fashion History instruction by replacing linear chronological frameworks with hybrid chart-timelines that visually connect fashion eras through thematic sticky-note annotations, significantly enhancing student engagement with the material.
As Director of the Lasell Fashion Collection, she oversees the university's historical fashion archive while modernizing its educational application. Building on the decades-long legacy of predecessor Jill Carey, she implements contemporary teaching methodologies that transform the physical collection into an active learning laboratory for students. Her unique perspective combines professional industry insights with deep institutional knowledge as both alumna and faculty member, creating distinctive educational opportunities in sustainable fashion practice and historical analysis.
