Rose Michael is a Senior Lecturer in Writing and Publishing at RMIT University. Her academic work focuses on speculative fiction and literary criticism, with publications in prominent journals such as TEXT, The Conversation, and Sydney Review of Books. She has authored three novels: The Asking Game (Vogel Award runner-up), The Art of Navigation (Conjure Award shortlisted extract), and Else (funded by Copyright Agency, City of Melbourne, and Creative Victoria).
Her career spans publishing roles, including commissioning editor at a major independent publisher, editor of Weekly Book Newsletter and Bookseller & Publisher, and founder of Arcade Publications, which relaunches in 2024. Rose’s research explores speculative fiction, narrative innovation, and Australian literary culture.
