Rosalie Rolón-Dow

Rosalie Rolón-Dow is an Associate Professor in the School of Education at the University of Delaware, specializing in critical race theory and sociocultural identities in education. Her work focuses on racially minoritized students’ experiences, particularly in predominantly white institutions, and explores how educational systems can foster equity through culturally responsive pedagogy and racial literacy frameworks.

Before her academic career, she taught K-5 in bilingual classrooms in Pennsylvania. She holds a Ph.D. and has led research projects funded by the Spencer Foundation. Her teaching includes courses on race, culture, urban education, and qualitative research methods.

Rolón-Dow’s research emphasizes microaggressions and microaffirmations in educational settings, with recent studies examining how these dynamics shape student navigation of universities. She also investigates the integration of culturally responsive practices in teacher education and computer science curricula.

Her collaborative projects address systemic inequities in education, leveraging qualitative methods to center marginalized voices. She co-edited Diaspora Studies in Education: Towards a Framework for Understanding the Experiences of Transnational Communities, highlighting transnational and diasporic student experiences.

Through grants and community partnerships, she bridges theory and practice to advance antiracist education. Her work consistently advocates for institutional accountability and inclusive policies to support underrepresented groups in education.
