Rosa Patzwahl

Dr. Rosa Patzwahl is a Researcher at the Integrative Institute for Sustainable Development at Bochum University of Applied Sciences (since 2021). She holds a doctoral degree (Dr. phil.) in Geography from Ruhr University Bochum (2021), and prior degrees from Technical University of Dresden, including a Diplom Geographin (2013) and a Diploma in Geography specializing in landscape planning (2012). Her professional career includes roles as Research Associate at Ruhr University Bochum’s Geographical Institute (2014–2021) and Urban Development internships (2009–2013).

Her research focuses on Geographical Consumer Research, Material Culture, Civic Engagement in Urban Development, and Transformative Sustainability Research, with a methodological emphasis on qualitative social research. She has taught courses such as ‘Development Concepts and Project Management’ (2014–2020) and ‘Introduction to Consumer Geography’ at Ruhr University Bochum. Her work integrates spatial analysis with consumer behavior studies, emphasizing everyday practices and sustainability.

Key publications include studies on clothing practices (2022), diary-based methodologies (2017–2019), and urban boundary processes (2015–2016). Her current project analyzes protest movements and social acceptance in industrial decarbonization strategies in North Rhine-Westphalia (Protanz.NRW, 2021–2023).
