Ronald Salem is the Lampman Professor of Surgery (Oncology) at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in pancreatic, liver, and gastrointestinal oncology. He leads the Surgical Oncology division, renowned for complex pancreatic surgeries like the Whipple procedure. His clinical research focuses on optimizing outcomes in pancreatic surgery, combined modality therapy for esophageal cancer, and management of pancreatic cysts.
Dr. Salem earned his MBChB from the University of Rhodesia, completed residency at Hammersmith Hospital (London), and research fellowships at Dana-Farber Cancer Center. He holds multiple teaching awards, including seven Chief Resident Teaching Awards and the Alvin Feinstein Clinical Teaching Award (2005).
