Ronald Mo is a Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Sunderland, affiliated with the Department of Computer Science. He holds a BEng, MPhil, and PhD in Computer Science and Engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), completed in 2007, 2015, and 2017 respectively. His research focuses on Music Information Retrieval, Audio Signal Processing, and Machine Learning/Deep Learning, with specializations in AI Music Generation, Intelligent Spatial Audio, and Music Emotion Recognition.
Before joining the University of Sunderland, he worked as a Senior Researcher at Tencent Music Entertainment (TME) and a Senior Engineer at Huawei Hong Kong, developing singing voice evaluation algorithms and music generation systems. He also served as an Adjunct Lecturer at HKU SPACE.
Teaching responsibilities include modules such as CET233: Software Enterprise Project, CETM47: Machine Learning and Data Analytics, and PROM02: Computing Master's Project. His research explores AI-driven music generation, spatial audio techniques, and fundamental aspects of music information retrieval like onset detection and beat tracking.
Ronald is an IEEE Member and has reviewed for journals like the Journal of Audio Engineering Society and Computer Music Journal. His work bridges academic research with industry applications, leveraging AI to enhance music technology and audio processing systems.
