Ronald Castelino is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmacology at the University of Tasmania. His research focuses on pharmaceutical sciences with a particular emphasis on chronic kidney disease (CKD) management, medication adherence, and drug stability in clinical settings. He is based at the Sandy Bay Campus, Pharmacy Building, Room 4011.
Castelino has secured three major grants, including a $26,775 Tasmanian Community Fund project investigating community pharmacy screening for CKD (2014–2016), a $15,523 University of Tasmania grant for point-of-care creatinine testing (2015), and a Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation grant ($9,795) exploring Y-site incompatibility of antifungals with parenteral nutrition (2016).
He has supervised six doctoral students, including studies on medication adherence in haemodialysis patients, metformin use in type 2 diabetes, and hospitalization risks from adverse drug reactions in older adults. His publications highlight innovations in drug stability for peritoneal dialysis solutions and CKD monitoring protocols in primary care.
