Ronald Bachman is an Adjunct Professor of Economics at the Düsseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) within Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. He serves as head of the research unit Labour Markets, Education, Population at RWI - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and is a Research Fellow at IZA - Institute of Labor Economics.

His research focuses on empirical labour economics, particularly the impacts of technological change and the ecological transition on labour markets. Key areas include wage dynamics, job market polarization, automation effects, and policy responses to digital and green transitions.
Recent publications analyze the effects of robots on European labour transitions, gender disparities in digital literacy, and monopsony power in low-wage markets. Current research explores wage changes in the green transition and worker adaptation to job loss fears through training and mobility.
Ronald Bachman is a member of the Ruhr Graduate School in Economics and coordinates the Horizon Europe project SkiLMeeT, which investigates skills for digital and green transitions in global labor markets.
