Ron Alterovitz

Ron Alterovitz is a Lawrence Grossberg Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he joined in 2009. He leads the Computational Robotics Research Group, focusing on algorithms for safe, autonomous robotic tasks in clinical and home environments.

Education:

• B.S. with Honors from Caltech in 2001
• Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from UC Berkeley in 2006

Research Interests: Dr. Alterovitz specializes in robotics and computational methods, with applications in medical robotics, motion planning, and physically-based simulation. His work spans surgical assistance, treatment planning, medical image registration, and assistive technologies.
