Romie Griesmer

Romie Griesmer is an Associate Professor of Law and Director of the PA Criminal Defense Clinic at Delaware Law School, Widener University. She holds a B.A. cum laude from Vassar College (1989) and a J.D. from Temple University School of Law (1992). Her career includes roles as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Mary D. Colins (1993–1994) and Assistant Public Defender of Chester County (1994–2001).

Her research and teaching focus on criminal law, criminal procedure, racial justice, and trial advocacy. She co-founded Innocence Delaware, a nonprofit dedicated to exonerating the wrongfully imprisoned, and teaches in the Innocence Delaware Legal Clinic. She also leads the Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program, where law students collaborate with incarcerated peers in a joint classroom setting.

Professor Griesmer is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania state and federal courts. Her work emphasizes racial equity in the legal system and practical advocacy skills through clinical education.
