Roman Shinder

Roman Shinder serves as Interim Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology and Professor of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, where he also directs the Oculoplastics division at Downstate and Kings County Hospital Center. Board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology, he is an active member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons (ASOPRS) and chairs ASOPRS's written qualifying exam.

Analysis of Dr. Shinder's 270+ publications reveals dominant themes in orbital tumor pathology (lymphoma, Rosai-Dorfman disease), inflammatory conditions (IgG4-related disease, sarcoidosis), and reconstructive techniques. His work frequently addresses rare orbital diseases and advances surgical interventions for complex oculoplastic cases.
