Romain Lorentz serves as a Senior Participating Member of the Adjunct Faculty in the Ethics and Business Law Department at the Opus College of Business, University of St Thomas, where he has taught since 2006. His prior experience includes teaching U.S. law at the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas and developing the Westlaw Edge platform at Thomson-Reuters.
His educational credentials comprise a Maîtrise in Law (J.D.) from the University of Orléans, a D.E.A. (LL.M.) in Comparative Law, and a Doctorate in Comparative Private Law (J.S.D.) from the Universities of Paris I and Paris II.
Dr. Lorentz specializes in intellectual property law, Internet law, European Union law, torts, and comparative legal systems. His research bridges French civil law and common law traditions, examining topics like civil liability frameworks, cross-border employment issues, and the developmental impact of Continental law. Current collaborations include The Continental Law Initiative's study commissioned by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs on Continental Law as a Factor of Development.
His publication history reveals consistent focus on comparative legal analysis between 2005-2015, with recent works addressing intellectual property challenges in global work environments and judicial approaches to comparative law. He regularly presents findings at international academic conferences across the U.S. and Europe.

Dr. Lorentz maintains active professional engagement through complex case collaborations with major law firms and as a test author for EBSCO LearningExpress. Community leadership roles encompass Secretary of Chloe's Fight Rare Disease Foundation's Board and Chair of Notre École French Immersion School's Board, alongside co-hosting the Bonjour Minnesota radio program on KFAI for five years.
