Romain Busnel

Romain Busnel is a Research Fellow at CEVIPOL (Centre d'Études des Relations Internationales et Politiques Publiques) at the Free University of Brussels, holding a doctorate in political science from the University of Lille and the University of Montreal under joint supervision.

His research examines state- illicit activity relationships through comparative analysis of coca growers in Peru and Bolivia, anti-corruption mechanisms in Mexico (ANR CORRUPT-AL project), and migrant mobilizations at the Guatemalan-Mexican border. Core interests span political sociology, transnational governance, and subaltern state interactions in Latin America.

Publications appear in leading journals including Critique Internationale, Cahiers des Amériques latines, Politix, Cultures & Conflits, European Review of Latin American and Caribbean Studies, International Journal of Drug Policy, and Revista de Ciencia Política y Gobierno, reflecting interdisciplinary engagement with political economy and social movements.
