Rolf Däßler

Prof. Rolf Däßler is a Professor of Information Technology at Potsdam University of Applied Sciences. He leads the Digitalization Laboratory and serves as scientific supervisor of the Brandenburg-digital coordination office. He chairs the Departmental Council and oversees the Master's Program in Information Science. His expertise includes data management, database technology, and information science, with a focus on digitization of cultural heritage, archival materials, and historical documentation.

Key projects include digitizing Brandenburg State Archives, large-format historical city plans, museum collections, and political speech corpora. He collaborated internationally as a Visiting Professor at the University of North Carolina (2001). His work integrates digital content with cultural tourism, exemplified by the KEW@T project funded by the ERDF and Brandenburg state.

Prof. Däßler’s research emphasizes sustainable digitization practices and application-oriented solutions for heritage preservation. He actively engages in interdisciplinary projects linking technology with cultural institutions.
