Rolf Craven, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Kentucky. He holds membership in the Diabetes & Obesity Research Priority Area, Markey Cancer Center, and Molecular and Cellular Oncology Research Program. His research spans cancer biology, neurobiology, and metabolic disorders.
- Doctor of Philosophy, University of North Carolina (1996)
- Master of Science, University of Illinois-Chicago (1987)
- Bachelor of Science, Clemson University (1985)
Dr. Craven's work focuses on lung cancer signaling mechanisms, particularly the role of sigma-2 receptor (PGRMC1) in erlotinib resistance and tumor secretion. He investigates autophagy in glucose transport regulation and GAPDH functions in neuroblastoma metabolism. His studies also explore BRD4 and integrin interactions in triple-negative breast cancer.
Recent research outputs highlight his contributions to receptor tyrosine kinase targeting in ovarian cancer, insulin signaling in hippocampal neurons, and small molecule inhibitors for cancer growth. Key collaborations include the Bonnie J Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and KY Science and Technology Co Inc.
