Roland Wittje

Roland Wittje serves as Associate Professor of History of Science and Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. He holds a PhD from Norwegian University of Science and Technology focusing on physics history during the interwar period.

His research explores nineteenth and twentieth century physical sciences, scientific instrumentation, university collections, and science education practices. Current projects investigate acoustic knowledge and sound technologies in early 20th century India.

Publications demonstrate expertise in historical electroacoustics development and science education methodologies. As Vice-President of Universeum, he coordinates preservation initiatives for scientific heritage.
