Roland Steinbauer

Roland Steinbauer is a Professor of Mathematical General Relativity at the Faculty of Mathematics, University of Vienna. He coordinates the Austrian Science Fund (FWF) Emerging Fields project A new Geometry for Einstein's Theory of Relativity and Beyond and co-leads the faculty's teaching project MaThX (Mathematik zwischen Theorie und Praxis).

• Research focuses on Mathematical General Relativity, particularly non-smooth spacetime geometries, and extends to Functional Analysis, Applied Analysis, and PDE Theory.
• Active in mathematics education research, collaborating with the Didactics Group to study teachers' professional knowledge and beliefs about teaching/learning analysis.
• Co-author of the textbook Einführung in das Mathematische Arbeiten, recipient of multiple teaching awards.
