Rohan Shirwaiker is the Distinguished James T. Ryan Professor in Industrial & Systems Engineering (ISE) at North Carolina State University's College of Engineering. He holds associate faculty appointments in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and the Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering. As Co-Director of the $30 million Bezos Center for Sustainable Protein, he leads cutting-edge research in biomanufacturing and 3D biofabrication.
Research Interests: Shirwaiker specializes in creating biomimetic tissues through advanced manufacturing, focusing on scalability and functional properties. His work spans tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, medical product development, and sustainable protein alternatives, integrating computational modeling, experimental approaches, and data analytics.
