Roger Pulwarty is a Senior Scientist at NOAA's Physical Sciences Division in Boulder, Colorado, and serves as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Colorado and the University of the West Indies, Barbados. His research focuses on climate science, risk management, and science-policy integration, with a global emphasis on the U.S., Latin America, and the Caribbean.
He has pioneered interdisciplinary programs such as the World Meteorological Organization Climate Services Information System and the National Integrated Drought Information System. Pulwarty has contributed to major international assessments, including IPCC Working Group II and U.S. National Climate Assessments. He advises organizations like the Organization of American States, EU, OECD, and World Bank on climate adaptation and holds roles such as U.S. Co-chair for SDG 6 (Water).
Recognized for his work, he has received awards from the US Government, American Geophysical Union, and Trinidad and Tobago, and is a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society and American Indian Sciences and Engineering Society. He has co-edited seminal works like Hurricanes: Climate and Socio-economic Impacts and Drought.
