Roger K. Moreira

Roger K. Moreira, M.D., is a pathologist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He completed medical training at Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, an internship at Emory University, and pathology residency at Emory University School of Medicine. His fellowship in Surgical Pathology with gastrointestinal/liver focus was completed at Vanderbilt University.

Dr. Moreira specializes in liver and gastrointestinal pathology, with a focus on hepatocellular carcinoma, Wilson disease diagnostics, and AI applications in histopathology. His research develops artificial intelligence models for quantitative analysis of liver biopsies, including iron content, tumor differentiation, and inflammatory markers.

His publications (2019-2025) demonstrate expertise in AI-enhanced diagnostic tools for Wilson disease, NASH grading, and eosinophilic esophagitis. Recent work includes multi-omics analysis of cholangiocarcinoma response to neoadjuvant therapy and novel histopathologic criteria for liver transplant tumor surveillance.
