Roger Hiorns

Roger Hiorns is a CNRS Research Director at the Institut des Sciences Analytiques et de Physico-Chimie pour l'Environnement et les Matériaux (IPREM), part of Université de Pau et des Pays de l’Adour. He holds visiting professorships at UNESP, Brazil, and chairs the IUPAC Subcommittee on Polymer Terminology. His roles include editorship of Polymer International and leadership in international projects worth €7.2M.

Research Interests:

Focuses on block copolymers for organic photovoltaics (OPVs) and poly(fullerene) synthesis. Develops novel materials for energy harvesting and bio-electronics via collaborations with industry and academia. Key projects include ATRAP and SACAP polymerization methods for C60 integration.

• Supervised 16 PhD students and 2 postdocs
• Referee for grants (ERC, ANR) and journals (Nature, Advanced Materials)

Labs & Outreach:

Leads IPREM’s organic photovoltaics initiatives, including community-scale installations in France. Promotes educational outreach via public installations and partnerships with local industries like Armor Solar Power Films GmbH.
