Rocio Cardenas-Rodriguez

Rocío Cardenas-Rodríguez is a Professor affiliated with Pablo de Olavide University (Department of Education and Social Psychology) and the University of Seville (Faculty of Educational Sciences). Her work focuses on gender studies, migration, education, and social work, with particular emphasis on gender-based violence prevention, migrant women's experiences, and educational equity for marginalized groups like Roma communities. She has directed three doctoral theses and contributed to over 100 publications across journals and edited volumes.

Her research spans qualitative studies in Kenya, Mexico, and Spain, analyzing topics such as resilience strategies among women in Lamu, Kenya; educational barriers faced by Roma girls; and intercultural competence development through theater pedagogy. Key collaborations include the Gendercit project addressing gender equality in higher education and international migration studies focusing on Mexican-US border dynamics.

Rocío has coordinated multidisciplinary initiatives like the OcioGune Network and contributed to policy recommendations on migration and inclusion.
