Robin Woracek is a researcher at the European Spallation Source ESS AB, specializing in advanced neutron imaging techniques. His work focuses on nondestructive crystallographic analysis (phase, texture, strain) using 2D and 3D diffraction contrast imaging.
- Fields of Interest: Neutron Imaging, Materials Science, Crystallography, Phase Transformations in Materials, Engineering Applications of Neutrons
He has contributed to method development for quantitative tomography of phase distributions in TRIP steel samples, particularly studying martensite formation under deformation. His research also explores hydrogen traps and nanoscale-to-macroscale feature detection, leveraging the ESS's high-powered neutron source.
At ESS, he collaborates on projects aiming to enhance spatial resolution (currently 10μm) and integrate complementary diffraction detectors for 3D phase, strain, and texture mapping. Future work includes expanding these techniques to visualize local texture evolution and detect material inhomogeneities.
