Robin Prichard is a Professor of Dance at the University of Akron’s School of Dance, Theatre, and Arts Administration. She is an internationally recognized artist-scholar specializing in contemporary dance choreography and Indigenous movement practices. Her career spans performance, academia, and grant review roles, with affiliations at Arizona State University, NAISDA (Australia), and Smith College.
Education: MFA in Dance from UCLA; BFA from SUNY Purchase.
Research focuses on intersections of Indigenous choreographies (Australia/New Zealand) and contemporary dance aesthetics. Notable works include commissions for Parramatta Riverside Theaters and American Idol’s motion-capture video game. Scholarly contributions include peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in dance education, two of which won national awards in 2022.
Award highlights include dual Fulbrights, Harkness Award, and National Endowment for the Arts grant reviewing. Teaching spans 25+ years with emphasis on intergenerational performance (e.g., The Dance Generators).
