Robin Pelc is a Lecturer in the Department of Marine Science at California State University Monterey Bay (CSUMB). She holds a Ph.D. in Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a B.S. and M.S. in Earth Systems from Stanford University. Previously, she served as Fisheries Program Manager at the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch Program, where she developed scientific criteria for global fisheries assessments and managed purchasing recommendations. Her work integrates marine conservation, sustainable seafood practices, and policy analysis.
Key research interests include marine protected areas, sustainable fisheries management, blue carbon solutions, and the ecological impacts of resource policies. She has conducted field research in South African marine reserves and contributed to renewable energy strategies for the Environmental Defense Fund.
Her recent articles focus on climate benefits of marine reserves, bycatch mitigation, and larval dispersal dynamics. Pelc collaborates with organizations like the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Environmental Defense Fund, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to ocean sustainability.
