Dr. Robin J Lickley is a Reader in the Speech and Hearing Sciences Division at Queen Margaret University (QMU), serving as a full member of the Clinical Audiology, Speech and Language Research Centre (CASL). His academic career includes roles at the University of Edinburgh and Utrecht University. He holds an honorary fellowship from the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Edinburgh.
Dr. Lickley's research focuses on spontaneous speech disfluency, speech production mechanisms, and pathological disfluency (e.g., stuttering and cluttering). His work employs corpus analysis, psycholinguistic experiments, and articulatory methods (e.g., EPG, ultrasound). He has secured significant grants, including ESRC-funded projects on disfluency detection and tongue differentiation in children (2012–2015) and collaborations with Edinburgh University on speech production facilities (2007–2010).
His teaching areas include psycholinguistics, disorders of fluency, and research methodologies. He has advised on grants totaling over £1M and maintains affiliations with the Human Communication Research Centre.
