Robin Dietrich is a Visiting Researcher at the QUT Centre for Robotics since January 2024. He collaborates with Tobias Fischer and Adam Hines on probabilistic place representations in neuromorphic Visual Place Recognition (VPR) algorithms. Previously, he was a research assistant at the Chair of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and Real-time Systems (Informatics department), focusing on neural mechanisms of localization in mammalian brains for neuromorphic SLAM development.
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science (Hochschule Darmstadt, 2015)
- Master’s in Computer Science (University of Stuttgart, 2017)
- Exchange: UMass Lowell (USA) during bachelor’s
- Robotics studies at Oregon State University (USA) during master’s
Research Focus: Translating neuroscience insights into robotic navigation algorithms, emphasizing temporal dynamics in hippocampal activity and their application in neuromorphic systems. Current work bridges biological neural networks with computational models for robust robotic localization.
