Robin Davies

Robin Davies is an Honorary Professor at the Australian National University's Development Policy Centre, appointed in April 2023. Previously, he served as head of the Global Health Division and Indo-Pacific Centre for Health Security in Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (2018–2023) and Associate Director of the Development Policy Centre (2012–2017). With nearly 20 years at AusAID, he held senior roles including managing Australia's aid program in Indonesia (2003–2006) and leading climate initiatives like the International Forest Carbon Initiative. He represented Australia in G20 negotiations and at UN agencies, including as AusAID’s first Permanent Representative to the OECD Development Assistance Committee (1999–2002).

Education: Honours degree in Philosophy from ANU.

Research focuses on development financing, global public goods, and Australian aid policy. He chairs UNICEF Australia’s Programs, Policy and Advocacy Committee (2013–2017) and currently serves on the boards of the Global Health Security Network and Femili PNG Australia. His career spans strategic aid management, climate change diplomacy, and crisis response, including leading Australia’s humanitarian efforts post-2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
