Robin Crigler is a Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Valparaiso University, College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Michigan State University and a B.A. from The College of William and Mary. His teaching interests include the history of race in modern America, African American history, and global settler colonialism.
Dr. Crigler’s research focuses on resistance to the civil rights movement, the evolution of white evangelical institutions during the civil rights era, and the cultural memory of racial progress. His work explores theological defenses of white identity and ideological shifts in American conservatism.
Key publication: The Myth of Colorblind Christians: Evangelicals and White Supremacy in the Civil Rights Era (2021). Other works analyze intersections of religion, race, and decolonization, including studies on the Church Growth Movement and Senator John C. Stennis. His scholarship has appeared in journals like Religion and American Culture and Journal of American Studies.
