Robin Burke is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Information Science at the University of Colorado Boulder. Previously, he held positions at DePaul University, where he co-directed the Web Intelligence Lab and contributed to interdisciplinary initiatives. He earned his PhD in Computer Science from Northwestern University (1993), MPhil from Yale (1990), and BS from Harvey Mudd College (1986). His research focuses on recommender systems, emphasizing fairness, multistakeholder governance, and ethical AI. He has secured grants from NSF, NEH, MacArthur, and others, and actively develops tools like librec-auto for reproducible research. He leads the Recommender Systems Lab and has been involved with ACM RecSys conferences. Teaching includes courses on network science, AI ethics, and data science methods.
