Professor Roberto Salvia is a Full Professor of General Surgery at the University of Verona, Department of Surgery, Dentistry, Paediatrics and Gynaecology. He serves as Director of General and Pancreatic Surgery and Coordinator of the pancreatic surgery program at the University of Verona hospital Trust. His academic career spans multiple decades with consistent teaching in Clinical Surgery, Humanitarian Medicine and Surgery, and specialized pancreatic surgery courses.

Professor Salvia is an internationally renowned pancreatic surgeon with research focused on pancreatic neoplasms. His work encompasses surgical innovation, patient outcomes, and quality of life improvements for pancreatic disease patients. He has contributed to international guidelines as a panelist for the Fukuoka international management guidelines of IPMNs and authored seminal papers on genomics in pancreatic cancer.
His research spans multiple areas including ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas, robotic and precision surgery, pancreatic cystic diseases, prevention and management of complications in pancreatic surgery, quality of life considerations, and secondary surveillance for pancreatic neoplasms. Professor Salvia leads numerous research projects through the Pancreatology study group and collaborates with international institutions including the ARC-NET research center.
Professor Salvia has coordinated multiple significant research initiatives including the Pancreatic Cancer Early Detection (PRECEDE) Consortium, the CAncer of the Pancreas Surveillance (CAPS) Consortium, and several clinical trials focused on improving outcomes for pancreatic cancer patients.
