Roberta Hawkins is an Associate Professor at the University of Guelph, Department of Geography, Environment & Geomatics. She holds a PhD from Clark University (2011). Her research focuses on three interconnected areas: feminist academia critiques, digital technologies' socio-environmental impacts, and global development practices. A prominent voice in feminist geography, she examines power dynamics in universities and neoliberal academia through her book Higher Expectations.

- Feminist geographies of academic institutions
- Political ecology of digital technologies
- Critical analysis of ethical consumption and social entrepreneurship
Publications: Over 30 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters since 2011, including recent works on feminist digital natures and caremongering during the pandemic. Her 2024 book critiques academic systems while proposing transformative strategies.
Collaborations: Co-leading projects with Dr. Elisabeth Militz on feminist social media research methodologies. Supervised 15+ graduate students since 2014, mentoring research in food systems, microfinance, and climate activism.
