Robert William Platt is a Professor jointly appointed in the departments of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Occupational Health and Pediatrics at McGill University. He holds the Albert Boehringer I endowed chair in Pharmacoepidemiology and serves as Senior Investigator at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre and Lady Davis Institute. As Executive Co-Lead of the Canadian Network for Observational Drug Effect Studies (CNODES), he directs methodological research on drug safety.
His research program focuses on:
- Advanced statistical methods for pharmacoepidemiology
- Causal inference in observational data
- Perinatal medication safety
- Prediction model development
- Large-scale administrative data analysis
Professor Platt has received the prestigious Albert Boehringer I endowed chair recognizing his contributions to pharmacoepidemiology. He maintains editorial leadership as Editor-in-Chief of Statistics in Medicine and serves on editorial boards of leading epidemiology journals.
While currently not accepting graduate students, he oversees a significant research portfolio through CNODES and affiliated institutes. His methodological work supports nationwide drug safety surveillance and has produced over 325 publications advancing epidemiological research methods.
