Robert W. Meulenberg is a Professor of Physics at the University of Maine. Effective January 2025, he will be on leave to the National Science Foundation. He earned his B.S. from Florida State University in 1998 and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2002. His office is located in 251 ESRB at the University of Maine.
- 1998: B.S., Florida State University
- 2002: Ph.D., University of California, Santa Barbara
Meulenberg’s research focuses on the electronic structure of nanoscale materials, surface and interfacial physics of nanostructures, and novel materials for alternative energy applications. He also investigates magnetometry and magnetic materials, utilizing synchrotron radiation techniques such as x-ray absorption, photoemission, and emission spectroscopy.
His recent publications highlight advancements in perovskite nanocrystals, quantum dot engineering, and environmental remediation materials. Key trends include the development of lead-free perovskites for enhanced stability and optical properties, directional dopant migration in core/multi-shell quantum dots, and innovative methods for capturing radioactive pertechnetate using nanotraps.
Meulenberg is affiliated with prominent research institutions, including the Frontier Institute For Research in Sensor Technologies (FIRST), National Synchrotron Light Source, Advanced Photon Source, and Advanced Light Source. He can be contacted at 207-581-2245 or via email at robert.meulenberg@maine.edu.
