R. (Robert) Timmers is a Researcher at Utrecht University's Faculty of Science, specializing in Environmental Biology and Ecology and Biodiversity. His work focuses on plant-animal interactions, ecosystem restoration, and biodiversity conservation in tropical forests, particularly in the Atlantic forest of São Paulo, Brazil.
His research investigates how landscape connectivity and fragmentation affect plant-frugivore relationships, carbon sequestration, and genetic diversity. Collaborators include Prof. Merel Soons (Utrecht University), Dr. Marina Côrtes (UNESP), and Prof. Jaboury Ghazoul (ETH Zurich). His project, funded by the NWO-FAPESP joint call, aims to identify optimal restoration strategies for biodiversity and carbon storage.
Key publications address bird conservation in fragmented landscapes, seed dispersal patterns, and hydrological impacts on vegetation. He is based at the Hugo R. Kruyt Building in Utrecht.
