Robert Thomas is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences at Wayne State University, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His academic career spans over three decades, with a strong focus on molecular virology, DNA repair mechanisms, and radiation biology. He holds a B.Sc. in Biology from York College of CUNY (1980), an M.Sc. in Bacteriology (1983), and a Ph.D. in Molecular Virology (1992), all from Wayne State University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Wayne State's School of Medicine.
His research interests include viral genetics, placental trophoblast biology, and the effects of ionizing radiation on cellular processes. Notable contributions include studies on HIV-1 replication in placental cells, radiation-induced bystander effects, and gene expression profiling for radiation biodosimetry. He has published extensively in journals like Nucleic Acids Res., AIDS, and Radiation Research.
- Education:
