Dr. Robert Rectenwald serves as a C-HOP Faculty Clinician at LIFE University's College of Chiropractic. With over 30 years of experience in the chiropractic field, he graduated from Life Chiropractic College in 1985 and has dedicated his career to both clinical practice and academic instruction.
Dr. Rectenwald holds a bachelor's degree in business and previously taught in technical schools and community colleges before pursuing chiropractic. His educational journey took an interesting turn when, after a career in motorcycle racing (which included 10 years and 22 crashes), his chiropractor suggested he consider chiropractic as a profession.
Dr. Rectenwald's research interests focus on clinical outcome case studies in chiropractic care, with particular attention to neurological conditions like Bow Hunter's Syndrome. His work demonstrates how chiropractic interventions can effectively address conditions that were previously thought to require medical or surgical intervention. He has documented cases where chiropractic care resolved symptoms that patients had been told they would have to 'live with for the rest of their life.'
As an educator, Dr. Rectenwald supervises student clinicians in performing patient histories, physical examinations, and chiropractic adjustments. He assesses student progress daily and provides remediation as needed. He also serves as lead instructor for a research methods and design class, where he emphasizes the importance of research to advance the chiropractic profession.
Dr. Rectenwald strongly believes in the power of research to strengthen chiropractic practice. He encourages his students to document their clinical experiences, noting that 'thousands of cases of chiropractic intervention that resolved [conditions like] asthma' could have 'an immense and everlasting impact' on the profession. His philosophy is that research doesn't require 'any special expertise' and can be conducted by any chiropractor to advance the field.
