Robert O'Connor is an Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the State University of New York at Oswego. He holds a BA from SUNY Oswego and an MA in English from Syracuse University, where he studied under renowned writers Raymond Carver and Tobias Wolff. His notable work includes the novel Buffalo Soldiers, published by Alfred A. Knopf, which was later adapted into a film in 2003 starring Joaquin Phoenix and Anna Paquin.
He teaches courses such as CRW 385, CRW 306, and ENG 406. His research and creative interests focus on narrative fiction, literary craftsmanship, and the intersection of storytelling with contemporary social themes. O'Connor has been recognized for his contributions to literature, including Granta's prestigious 'Best of Young American Writers' designation in 1996.
His office hours are Mondays and Wednesdays from 11:15 AM to 12:45 PM, and he is based in 327 Marano Campus Center.
