Robert Mortimer

Professor Robert Mortimer is Pro Vice Chancellor for Research and International at York St John University, overseeing research, knowledge transfer, international relations, and the London Campus. His expertise lies in environmental geochemistry, focusing on nutrient and trace metal cycling in ecosystems, ecological impacts, and environmental remediation. He has secured funding from NERC, EPSRC, and industry partners, addressing pollution, climate change, and sustainable resource management. Mortimer is a Fellow of the Geological Society and Higher Education Academy, and serves on UK and international research evaluation bodies.

His research spans estuarine dynamics, heavy metal bioavailability, mercury speciation in artisanal mining areas, and nanobubble-enhanced wastewater treatment. He has developed innovative sampling methods for water quality analysis and contributed to phosphorus recovery strategies from wastewater. Mortimer's work bridges academia and industry through projects on bioremediation, sustainable engineering, and environmental policy.
