Robert Lehmann is a Researcher at the Chair of Hydrogeology within the Institute of Geosciences at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, where he has served as a Research Associate since November 2011 and currently holds a Postdoctoral researcher position in the DFG Collaborative Research Center 1076 AquaDiva since July 2021.
His academic background includes a cumulative doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) in Hydrogeology from Friedrich Schiller University Jena, with a dissertation titled "Hydrogeological connectivity and endolithic habitats of Upper Muschelkalk limestone-mudrock alternations," and a Diploma in Geology focused on thermal impacts of near-surface geothermal energy on contaminated aquifers.
Lehmann's research spans Hydrogeology, Groundwater Systems, and Biogeosphere Interactions, with specialized expertise in Geothermal Energy applications and Fluid Dynamics in sedimentary basins. His work centers on subsurface-surface environmental linkages, particularly through the AquaDiva project investigating biogeosphere connections.
Key projects include the DFG CRC 1076 AquaDiva (2012–present) where he serves as Field Coordinator and leads subproject D03, the BMBF INFLUINS project (2013) on sedimentary basin fluid dynamics, and the EU/BIOGEOTHERMY initiative (2009–2012) studying microbial heat generation in contaminated groundwater.
He maintains active professional engagement through memberships in the Hydrogeology Section of the German Society for Geosciences (FH-DGG) and the Thuringian Geological Association.
