Research interests include:
- Noncommutative algebraic geometry and ring theory
- Weak Hopf algebras and quantum symmetries
- Applications of combinatorics to finite affine geometry
- Homological techniques in noncommutative algebra
- Quantum groups and their actions on algebras
His recent work explores homological integrals for weak Hopf algebras, degree bounds for Hopf actions, ozone groups of Artin-Schelter regular algebras, and combinatorial problems related to the card game SET. He has collaborated with prominent researchers including Kenneth Chan, Jason Gaddis, and James J. Zhang.
He has delivered invited talks at institutions such as UC San Diego, University of Washington, and international conferences, including the Conference on Operad Theory in China.
