Dr. Robert J. Rivera is an Associate Professor of Theology at St. John's University, NY, affiliated with the St. John's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. His academic work spans Latina/o/x and Latin American theologies, theology and social theories, and contemporary Christologies.

- Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Boston College

His research focuses on theological responses to globalization, exclusion, and diaspora experiences, including a Christology of liberation and reflections on debt, disaster, and migration. Projects include a manuscript for the T&T Clark Studies in Edward Schillebeeckx Series and the co-edited volume Enfleshing Theology: Embodiment, Discipleship, and Politics in the Work of M. Shawn Copeland (2018). Dr. Rivera is a member of the American Academy of Religion, Society of Biblical Literature, and Puerto Rican Studies Association.
