Robert J. Connor is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Purdue University's College of Engineering, specializing in structural engineering within the structures group. With over 14 years of experience in bridge research and testing, his work addresses fabrication flaws, fatigue cracking, fracture, and structural failures.
- Education: B.S. in Civil Engineering from Drexel University; M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University.
He develops repair strategies for bridges and infrastructure used by state DOTs, transit authorities, and construction firms. Dr. Connor contributes to fatigue design specifications for highway bridges, sign structures, and expansion joints via NCHRP projects. He chairs the First International Conference on Fatigue and Fracture in the Infrastructure (2006) and designed a fatigue design course for Pennsylvania and New Jersey DOTs.
