Robert Harder is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Associate Provost of the Division of Engineering, Science, Art & Business/Industry Engagement at George Fox University. He earned BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology. His research focuses on combustion modeling, emissions control, dynamic systems, contact mechanics, and tribology.
Harder's teaching responsibilities include thermodynamics, energy systems, heat transfer and combustion, emissions, and air pollution. He has been actively involved in academic research and industrial consulting since joining George Fox University in 1988. Recently, he discussed the uniqueness of George Fox's engineering program and the impact of its Christian orientation on education via podcast interviews with Big Beacon Radio.
