Professor Robert Delatolla is a Full Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa. He serves as Director of the national CoVaRR-Net Wastewater Surveillance Research Group, co-Chair of the Ontario Wastewater Surveillance Consortium, and Director of the Ottawa-Carleton Institute for Environmental Engineering. Additionally, he is the Graduate Coordinator for the University of Ottawa Environmental Engineering Graduate Program.

Professor Delatolla’s research focuses on wastewater-based surveillance as a tool for public health decision-making, particularly in pandemic preparedness and health equity. His recent publications emphasize SARS-CoV-2 genomic surveillance, wastewater epidemiology for respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and data quality improvements in small communities. These studies highlight his leadership in developing standardized protocols for wastewater signal interpretation and public health applications.
