Robert D. Moser is a Professor and W. A. 'Tex' Moncrief, Jr. Chair in Computational Engineering and Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin. He serves as Deputy Director of the Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences (ICES) and Director of the DOE-funded Center for Predictive Engineering and Computational Sciences (PECOS). His research focuses on turbulence physics, cardiovascular fluid mechanics, and uncertainty quantification in computational science. Moser earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University in 1984.
Research interests include direct numerical simulation (DNS), large-eddy simulation (LES), and modeling complex flows such as those in aerodynamics, cardiovascular systems, and reentry vehicles. He develops methods to improve turbulence prediction and quantify uncertainties in simulations, particularly for high-performance computing applications.
His leadership roles and contributions to exascale computing, wind energy modeling (ExaWind), and plasma physics are notable. Collaborations span mechanical engineering, computational science, and biomedical engineering.
