Robert Clark is a Professor and holds the Stephen J.R. Smith Chair in Economic Policy at Queen's University's Department of Economics. He is also an Affiliated Professor at HEC Montreal's Department of Applied Economics and serves as a Bank of Canada Fellow (2022–2026) and Fellow of CIRANO. His research focuses on Applied Microeconomics and Industrial Organization, with a particular emphasis on public procurement, banking, and algorithmic pricing. He has advised one PhD student, Adriano De Leverano, on topics related to public procurement competition.
Clark's work spans studies on bank funding dynamics, cartel behavior, and regulatory economics. His recent articles include analyses of bank branch networks, antitrust investigations, and algorithmic pricing in retail markets. He has received prestigious awards, including the 2020 Public Utility Research Prize and the 2014 Association of Competition Economics Prize.
He actively contributes to academic leadership, organizing conferences such as the Montreal Summer IO Conference and the Conference on Financial Intermediation and Regulation. His research bridges theoretical and applied aspects of economics, with implications for policy and market regulation.
