Robert Chiles is a Senior Lecturer in the History department at the University of Maryland. He is also co-editor of the journal New York History since 2019. His research and teaching explore 19th and 20th century U.S. history, focusing on political dynamics, cultural studies, environmental conservation, labor movements, urbanization, and ethnic identity.
Education: Earned a Bachelor of Science in Music (summa cum laude) from Towson University in 2004, and a PhD in History from the University of Maryland in 2012.
