Robert C. O'Reilly, MD, serves as Professor of Otorhinolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania, while simultaneously holding the roles of Attending Physician in the Division of Otolaryngology and Director of the Balance and Vestibular Program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). He is board-certified in otolaryngology and has built an internationally recognized career combining clinical care, surgical expertise, and translational research in pediatric neurotology and vestibular science.

Research Focus: Dr. O'Reilly’s work centers on pediatric vestibular and balance disorders, congenital and acquired hearing loss, gene therapy for inner-ear disease, cochlear implantation outcomes in underserved populations, and the pathophysiology of auditory neuropathy spectrum disorders. His translational efforts extend from bench studies on AAV-mediated gene delivery to multi-institutional outcome analyses of vestibular testing protocols in children.

Professional Service & Leadership: Dr. O'Reilly sits on the editorial boards of Hearing Research, Otology & Neurotology, International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology, and six additional peer-reviewed journals. He has chaired and moderated symposia for SENTAC, AAO-HNS, and CHOP CME programs, and serves on research and equilibrium committees of the American Society for Pediatric Otolaryngology (ASPO) and the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head & Neck Surgery.
Laboratory & Clinical Teams: He directs the Balance and Vestibular Program at CHOP, a multidisciplinary service integrating otolaryngology, audiology, physical therapy, and neurology to evaluate and manage complex pediatric dizziness cases. The program also serves as a training site for residents and fellows from Penn and surrounding institutions.
