Robert Budde is a Professor of English at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), located in Prince George. He is affiliated with the Faculty of Indigenous Studies, Social Sciences and Humanities. Budde holds a PhD from the University of Calgary and specializes in creative writing pedagogy, ecopoetry, Canadian literature, and northern B.C. literature. His research also addresses activism, anti-racism, Indigenization, and gender studies.
His academic career includes eight authored books (poetry, novels, interviews, and short fiction), with notable works such as *Dreamland Theatre* (2014)—shortlisted for the B.C. Books Prize Dorothy Livesay Award—and *declining america* (2009). He has also edited volumes like *The Answer to Everything: Selected Poems of Ken Belford* (2021). Budde teaches creative writing and supervises MA students in the English program.
His publications span diverse forms, reflecting a focus on environmental and social themes, northern regional identity, and experimental narrative structures. Budde is fluent in English and Dakelh and is available as a media expert on creative writing, Canadian literature, and Indigenous studies.
